20 years ago Mark and Vicky Hurley began a ministry, The Hurley’s, as a family group of players and singers. They set out to spread the Good News of Jesus Christ to anyone who would listen. They sang in churches throughout the Southeast providing good solid gospel music no matter the size or location. God blessed their efforts of ministry and provided them a way to continue for two solid decades.
Throughout those years The Hurley’s dynamics, faces and songs may have changed, but their message and ministry have not. “We spread the gospel plain and simple,” says Sarah Conley. The current group has been quoted to be the “Best Yet!” With 3 dynamic vocalists, a top notch guitar player, a blazing banjo player, and a steady strong bass player The Hurley’s new generation has been born. Fusing Gospel, Bluegrass, Blues, Celtic and high levels of enthusiasm you get a sound is unlike most bluegrass groups. Every time the Hurley’s perform, they make sure that all who hear them know that their main goal is to bring glory to God in all they do.
Each member of The Hurleys brings a rich musical heritage to the table, and they are all committed to preserving the heritage of bluegrass and gospel music. From Mark’s years in the Easter Brothers, Donnie Little’s history playing along side the Crow Brothers and many others, Sarah’s father playing bass for The Kingsman for many years, and Kristen’s great Uncle “Tater” Tate who was one of Bill Monroe’s bluegrass boys their lineage runs deep in this music. This heritage gives the band a strong passion that resonates deep within their souls.
New Generation Hurley’s have played anywhere from local festivals to store front churches, Love Valley, NC to the hills of Jonesborough, TN. They are taking the Gospel of Jesus Christ to a lost world through song and bringing a fresh energy to Christians alike! This year is proving to be a great year for The Hurleys. The Hurleys would love to come serve at your church or venue.
